No Muddy Shoes In My House

No Muddy Shoes In My House

No Muddy Shoes in My House – A Powerful Lesson on Faith and Cleanliness

The little boy pushed open the screen door, ready to step inside. Before he could, his mama caught him just in time.

“John Mark, don’t you dare bring all that mud into my house!” she scolded, hands on her hips.

The boy looked up, curiosity flashing in his eyes. “Mama, why do you always say that? What’s so bad about a little mud?”

His mama smiled and motioned toward the porch. “Sit down right here, take off those messy shoes, and I’ll tell you why keeping mud out is so important.”

A Story from Long Ago

“A long time ago,” she began, “there was another little boy who watched his mama paint something red over their front door. It looked like blood.”

He was confused, just like you, and asked, “Mama, why are you painting the door?

His mama answered, “Tonight, an angel is coming, and his feet will be covered with the mud of Egypt. But this blood will stop him from stepping inside.”

The next morning, their floor was spotless, but down the street, other mamas were crying. The angel had walked right into their homes, leaving mud everywhere.

“That night became known as Passover,” his mama continued. “It was the night God protected His people. To this day, we remember and celebrate it.”

Walking on Holy Ground – No Mud Allowed

“After Passover,” she said, “God led His people out of Egypt. They walked and walked until they reached the Red Sea. Moses raised his staff, and just like that, the sea parted, making a dry path for them to walk through.”

“No swimming, no wet feet—just dry ground.”

When they reached the other side, they looked down in amazement—not a speck of mud on their shoes!

The same thing happened years later. Joshua led the Israelites to cross the Jordan River. As soon as the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant stepped in, the water stopped flowing. They walked across on dry ground—no mud, no mess.

And it didn’t stop there. The great prophets Elijah and Elisha also came to the Jordan River. Elijah rolled up his coat, struck the water, and—just like before—the river parted. They walked across without getting a single bit of mud on their feet.

Then something even more amazing happened. God sent a fiery chariot to carry Elijah straight to Heaven.

“And guess what?” Mama leaned in closer, lowering her voice. “Elijah went to Heaven with dry feet and no mud on his shoes.”

She smiled. “You see, child, God doesn’t allow mud in His house either.”

Keeping Your Feet Clean for Heaven

“One day,” she said, “you’ll start a long journey toward Heaven. It’s called the road of Sanctification. And let me tell you, it’s a dusty, muddy road. You’ll pick up dirt along the way, just like when you run outside to play.”

“But here’s the thing—you can’t clean your own feet. Only Jesus can wash them for you. And since you never know when you’ll get to God’s front door, you need to ask Him every day to keep you clean.”

She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. “While you’re here with me, I’ll make sure you don’t track mud inside. But after that, it’ll be Jesus making sure your feet are spotless when you reach Heaven.”

“And when you finally walk through that door, your mama and grandmama will be standing there, grinning from ear to ear.”

” Look at you, John Mark. No mud on your shoes! Come on in and give us a big ol’ hug!”

A Final Reminder

“So you see,” Mama said, standing up, “if God doesn’t let mud in His house, I’m not letting it in mine either.”

She clapped her hands. “Enough talking—take those muddy shoes off and come inside! But don’t you dare take a bite until you say the blessing!”
